Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.(

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Certain PDF documents relating to the annual internal audit comprise scanned images which and content it has been found cannot be read by a screen reader and do not comply with accessibility requirements of WCAG 2.1
  • Consideration could be given when the next audit report comes around as to whether the accessibility could be improved by changing the way such documents could be created?

Disproportionate burden

  • Some of the older PDFs may not comply with and scanned documents may not comply with accessibility requirements of WCAG 2.1.
  • We have assessed the cost of fixing these issues. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment before September 2022.

Content not in scope of the accessibility regulations

  • Currently we do not have PDFs and Word documents that are essential to providing our services.
  • The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018. However we believe, if not all, almost all of these already comply. We do not plan to fix minutes and financial records more than five years old as they are no longer essential documents.
  • There is no live video on this site and there are currently no plans to add live video in the future.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

This website was tested during September 2020 by the Council’s website consultant, Dovedale Design. www.dovedaledesign.co.uk

We will conduct further testing, periodically review compliance and seek advice on how to improve compliance.
